Benmore Students and Olive Clark
This one of a set of images from photocopier scans and is courtesy of the staff at Glenbranter Forest Office.
Little was known of the details of people apart from a couple of names written on one of the images but one former student Bob Boyd has been tracked down to Northern Ireland and has provided the following information:
‘’The one with Mrs Clark in it is really great, I had almost forgotten how she looked as I have never seen her or photos of her since I left Benmore in 1960.
That photo was taken in 1958/59 by Bill Mason (from our year group) with the lorry under the arch entrance into Benmore backyard.
The 8 students are 1958 intake, they are from left top;
1. Maurice Clements (N Ire)
2. Bob Boyd (N Ire)
3. Ian Reid (Kilmarnock)
4. Brian Pedder
5. Bob Cuthbertson (peeping out from inside lorry) (N Ire)
6. Ben Seniscal.
7. Fred Carty (N Ire)
8. Mrs Olive Clark
9. Andy Orr.
Many students will have memories of MLM 777, especially the drivers’’
Note the less than elegant temporary or permanent repairs to the frame of the lorry canopy which must have hampered access to the back. Mrs Clark was always know as Mrs Clark and her first name, Olive, is not generally remembered but she always referred to us as ‘her boys’. Probably reflected our level of maturity at the time!
What was the type of lorry?
