Nairn Show Forestry Tent

This is a view of what is termed the Power Saws exhibit and three different saws are placed on the bench, Jonsereds, Husqvarna and another unidentified. On the wall are the tools for working and marking the timber as well as those for maintaining the saws and saw chains. Helmets and ear defenders have a mention. The logger’s belt has timber marking pen at the top, combination plug spanner, round chain file, loggers tape and on the wall above a pulp hook for handling small billets of timber. The other panel has more tools mainly for maintenance of the cutting teeth on the chain, flat file, round file in its guide, calliper gauge for measuring length of teeth, raker depth gauge plus hammer, pliers and screwdriver for general work. The saw chain vice for sharpening work is fixed to the bench. The information panel is an explanation of snedding the branches with a chainsaw which was a fairly new concept at this time and came about with the advent of lighter faster running saws.
