Culbin Forest P22 planting
Early photograph taken in 1924 from a forestry album of 117 photographs compiled by an unknown Forestry Commission officer. No other information given.
This appears to be some of the first planting in Culbin Forest which followed on after wartime fellings. The pine trees look as though they were planted along with marram grass but this could be the growth of vegetation following felling.
Note the camera case? Used as a size guide and also what appears to be the large sand dunes in the distance which have a surprising amount of vegetating cover as at 1924.
Hidden in the middle ground are the roofs of houses and telephone lines which could indicate the area close to the village of Kintessack. Can anyone confirm?
