Fort Augustus District and Forest Office

Date Added: 05 November 2016 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1980 Picture No: 3460

Photograph taken is courtesy of John Ireland, who is currently based at Lochaber Forest District. Date is not known and placed as 1980 for now.

Unsure of the vintage of this Office photograph but certainly before the large extension that was commissioned to turn the building into a Forest District Office.
The former building shown here housed the District Officer covering the forests of Glengarry, Inchnacardoch, Glenurquhart, Ratagan and ? The building was also the Inchnacardoch Forest Office. It was very similar set up and building to that at Torlundy, Fort William where the office there house the District Officers and also the Leanachan Forest staff.
