The second year (around 1988) the Forestry Commission staff entered the Inverness raft race and parade this time acting out as the ‘Sitka tribe’ from western Canada complete with authentic looking totem pole carved by Pete Bowsher (Forester at Dornoch Forest District).

The foresters standing on the back of the lorry in the Forestry Commission Longman Workshop, Inverness from the left are:

Mick Holburn (Inverness Forest District)
John Ireland (Fort Augustus Forest District)
Chris Nixon (? Forest District)
David Kidd (Inverness Forest District)

Donna (John Ireland’s partner) is standing with Mick Holburn’s children in front of the totem.

It is believed the totem pole went to the Farigaig visitor centre after the event.
