Inverness raft parade and race
Photograph is courtesy of John Ireland, who is currently based at Lochaber Forest District.
The second year (around 1988) the Forestry Commission staff entered the Inverness raft race and parade this time acting out as the ‘Sitka tribe’ from western Canada complete with authentic looking totem pole carved by Dornoch Forest District forester Pete Bowsher.
The foresters on the parade lorry from the left are:
John Ireland (Fort Augustus Forest District) facing the rear of the lorry.
Chris Nixon his back to the photo on the left of the raft.
Mick Holburn (Inverness Forest District) facing the front of the lorry but obscured by peace pipe.
David Kidd (Inverness Forest District) standing on raft.
