Fertiliser loader for fix wing aircraft
The photograph is courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and staff at their Fort Augustus office.
No information given but thought to be around 1977 and the men are contractors loading up a transfer bag with sacks of phosphate fertiliser (unground rock phosphate) for spreading onto tree crops. The equipment appears similar to that used to load a fixed wing aircraft that taxied up to the loading site and the transfer bag was lifted up by the hoist and funnel opened over the fertiliser bay in front of the pilot. The aircraft used is likely to have been registration no G-AXFF.
Does anyone remember which areas this outfit work in?
