Machinery Demonstration above Tummel Bridge

‘This was piece time above Tummel Bridge in 1966, early summer, and a demonstration of ploughs and road making.
The tractor is Bob Budge’s new Caterpillar D4C that replaced the old Cat D4 that I sent shown in the Black Wood of Rannoch.

People in the line up that day left to right:

Lawrie McGregor, took over Jim Connel’s Fiat 60 ploughing outfit, Lawrie and family emigrated to Australia but later returned to retire in Kirriemuir.

Noel Reid, Cat D6B operator, later took over as low-loader driver.

Buster Ross, fitter, sent down from Blackhall Workshop to help with running repairs during the demonstration.

Bob Budge, operator of the Cat D4C in the picture coupled to a light weight Parkgate, still cable operated not yet fully hydraulically rigged.

Jock Smith, operator of a Fiat 60 fitted with a mounted hydraulic tine.

The last man was a banksman from the Tummel bridge squad.’

The number on the tractor grill must help observers of the demonstration refer to a written guide with numbers and descriptions of machines and equipment.
