Wow! My mom worked at the Forestry Commission in the typing pool on June 20, 1953. Wondered if she might have been the one to type this letter. Would love to see more typed letters.

Hi Mary. It would be a coincidence if your mother typed the letter. Note the initials at the top of the page left hand side JF/CMS which indicates typed for James Fraser/by person with initials CMS. Conservators usually had a personal assistant who did most of the correspondence work rather than being sent down to the typing pool.
Any photographs of your mother at work or with her colleagues would be very welcome. Comment left on 10 January 2017 at 02:21 by Norman Davidson

Yes, I had noticed the initials and figured someone other than my mom had typed this letter. Just interesting to see some history. Thanks.

If you have a bit of time all paper documents have been classified under the 'Group' name of Forest Records, Booklets and Maps. By clicking on 'Groups' on the second top bar and opening Forest Maps etc all these will come forward but unfortunately the contents are numerous and the letters are mixed in with the other paper records. It would be a bit of work with no guarantee of any success. All the best.
