Control burning at Bernera, Glen Elg circa 1995
Photograph is courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and staff at their Fort Augustus office.
No information is given on who is working with what is assumed to be a heather lighter setting fire to an area to act as a fire break in the dry spring to protect the young trees.
The southern end of the village of Glen Elg can be seen laid out along the raised beach next to the sea front. In the background the Forestry Commission area of Glen Bheag is showing with the steep sides of the glen planted with trees.
Can anyone guess who is the man holding the fire lighter?
