Elchies Forest — Map 2 Archiestown
Maps are courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District.
Following a complete resurvey circa 1967, Elchies Forest area at Archiestown has a new set of Compartment numbers which run from No 1 – 114. The earliest planting appears to be 1955 (P55) and goes up to 1967, the survey area but Compartment No 114 has no information and may have been planted the following year.
Nearer to Archiestown Scots pine and larch used in larger proportions but as the planting extended north and west this changed more to Lodgepole pine reflecting the incidence of more or deeper peat.
Any details about the forest or your work in the forest are very welcome.
