Rosarie Forest areas near Keith
Maps are courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District.
This is a 1956 redrawing of the Forestry Commission areas east and west of the town of Keith and part of Rosarie Forest. The compartment numbers run from 1-57 and 153-180 and again has some sections coloured in red. Only the 1958 planting has any species and age detail.
Note the extent of the town of Keith as it hardly has any houses or only the plots for houses indicating a very early OS base map must have been used. In later years the two small forest areas in the extreme east, Dunnyduff Wood, became part of the Aberdeenshire forests.
Woods named on the map are:
Wood of Mulderie
Malcolm wood
Rosarie Wood
Auchanachie
Cairds Hill
Any details about the woods or your work in these woods are very welcome.
