Thatching sand dunes in Culbin Forest
Photograph courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District with particular help from Lesley Hutcheson who collected a series of general photographs found in the Newton Office and filed them.
This is a reprint from an old slide or negative showing men spreading thatching material onto the sand dunes with quite a large are still to cover. The image gives some idea of the scale and cost of the operation. Thought to be around 1955.
