Benmore forestry students lining out
Photographs courtesy of Freida Murray, Buckie, daughter of Robert Allison.
Three Benmore forestry students working in forest nursery lining out plants with long boards. No names are mentioned but the man holding the board is thought to be George Small who later worked at Morangie Forest and other areas.
The initials of BFS and FCS burnt into the handle of the left hand spade can just be made out signifying Benmore Forestry School and Forestry Commission Scotland. The hessian wall is being used as a wind and sun shelter to help shade the bare roots of the young trees when they are being loaded into the lining out boards. It is assumed that this is Uig Nursery part of Benmore Forest.
