International BTD8 and Cuthbertson plough

Photograph courtesy of John Munro, Ballindalloch, who worked as a forestry ploughing operator for the Keith based contractor George Milton. John worked for him for about three years ploughing in many parts of the northeast and over Inverness way.

John’s father worked for the Forestry Commission in Glenlivet Forest as a lorry driver but John (Junior) was working on farms when he was offered a job offered a job as a ploughing tractor driver by Geordie Milton around 1960.

This is his second tractor and he was still engaged in ploughing on the hills near Tomintoul which involved living in the local bothy through the week. He often plough alone and sometimes did not see anyone for many days.

Note the tine plough head lying to the left hand side.
