Bogged TD9 at Glengarry Forest - 1955
Photographs courtesy of Brian Patience with help from Don MacLeman, Newnham. Photographs were taken by John Patience (Uncle of Brian) who was a forester at Glengarry at the time. John, originally from Avoch, trained at Glentress Forester Training School and was posted as a newly qualified forester to Mull in 1951, onwards to Glengarry in 1955, Queens in 1957 and then as Head Forester to Broadford, Skye around 1960 where he worked until he retired in 1990.
This is the fourth in a sequence of Glengarry ploughing photographs taken in 1955 and this one is annotated as being located in a pilot plot above Greenfield in Glengarry Forest. Most likely this would be a pilot trial plot to see if trees would grow successfully at higher elevations in the area. There are no identifying features on this machine and the exhaust has been removed. Could this be the lead tractor in the first photograph of the series – No 2500?
Can anyone identify the location or remember the event?
