Cross Draining at Glengarry Forest -1955
Photographs courtesy of Brian Patience with help from Don MacLeman, Newnham. Photographs were taken by John Patience (Uncle of Brian) who was a forester at Glengarry at the time. John, originally from Avoch, trained at Glentress Forester Training School and was posted as a newly qualified forester to Mull in 1951, onwards to Glengarry in 1955, Queens in 1957 and then as Head Forester to Broadford, Skye around 1960 where he worked until he retired in 1990.
The cross draining team is made up of two TD9s in tandem pulling a Cuthbertson plough with metal drum wheels. The tractor drivers are being guided by someone on the ground in front and are crossing some single furrow ploughing at a location named as Greenfield.
Can anyone confirm the location and say in which area in Glengarry this is located?

The photograph appears to have been taken from within the Greenfield block, looking towards the NW. The road/track heading NW in the upper mid of the image appears to be the road/track from ‘Greenfield’, past the graveyard and wood of Torr na Carraidh (block of trees on the top of the ridge, in the top right of the image), past the school and thence over the ford at the western end of Loch Garry and up to join the Invergarry – Tomdoun and Loch Hourn road.
