A great action image of someone working with horses dragging timber but unfortunately not from Scotland. The year is unknown but there is a reference to Powell Duffryn and Chester. Possible year say 1968?

It looks as though the wood is being thinned with some un-sned trees lying at the back near to the onlookers. From the shape of the cuts on the logs the trees look as though they have had their branches removed, quite roughly, with an axe.

Does anyone have action photographs of horses extarting timber?

Just discovered this photograph in a Forestry Commission Booklet 'Forestry in Great Britain' by H L Edlin in 1964. The activity is thinning Sitka spruce at Lake Vyrnwy in North Wales. Comment left on 17 February 2015 at 08:34 by Norman Davidson
