Photograph by Jim Atterson dated Sep 1961 showing a fertiliser hopper assembly and drive mounted on a double furrow plough to enable the spread of a continuous line of fertiliser under each of the plough furrows. The two plastic pipes delivering the fertiliser from the hopper can be seen running down to the areas in front of the over turning furrows. Unfortunately the location is not named.

In the event this system did not survive that long due to faults and the liability of the feed system to very easily choke with wet fertiliser. Hand fertilising was a much more flexible system and did not hold up the important process of ploughing. In time helicopters spreading systems were developed.

Can any of the men be named?
