First mounted tine plough head — Wauchope Fo

A remarkably clear image of the first mounted tine plough on one of its early outings in Wauchope Forest on FC No 1617 a TD 9 tractor. Obviously a wee problem to overcome!
This is a very well engineered and neatly put together piece of kit and wonder if there was an early test model prior to this one. The nice touches of the main vertical frame having its top chamfered, the rounded lugs holding the support bars, spring buffered beam stop and chain and hook for travelling with the beam fixed up. Not seen in this image is the vertical hydraulic ram which pushed up the plough rope through a pulley system raising the plough head without the need for a heavy winch on the back.
The tine plough head is surprising large for this early period and is mounted on a Begg plough beam. Andy Neustein does mention in his History of Plough Development that the Begg engineering team (from Tarbolton) did mount a plough onto a gantry behind a TD 9 with was tested at Fetteresso. It is possible this is the same or similar machine. Note however that this might not be the first mounted tine as claimed!
