Tine Plough head on Cuthbertson beam - Speymouth

Very small photograph taken of a trial tine plough head mounted on a Cuthberson plough in Speymouth Forest. The rubber tyres are also a new departure from the solid iron wheels. It seems that on this occasion the tine head was fitted with a substantial land site board to counteract sideways crabbing. No central disc coulter has been fitted (possibly not enough room) and they have resorted to a coulter knife clamped by the triangular piece of metal onto the main beam. Plough pulled by a Caterpillar tractor.
In later years of course the tine heads and wheels were enlarged and also the landside board was heightened allowing the disc coulter to be fitted below the higher working beam level.
