Trial Results of 6 Bark Peeling Machines
Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. Report No 67 revisits bark peeling machines and pulls together the details and outputs of six machines:
The Gorwood (British)
The Kingslaw (British)
The Bark Lasse (Swedish)
The Cundey (British)
The Bezner (German)
The Hurrican (American)
The various peelers have their strengths but the Kingslaw and the Cundey both come out well in output and quality tests, the latter being smaller and lighter being more suitable for moving around to process smaller volumes at sites in forests etc.
