Report No 56 - The Danish Tolne Plough
Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. Report No 56 covers a trial of a relatively lightweight plough that could fit on behind an agricultural tractor providing it had some tracks or strakes. The plough configuration is unusual with quite a few moving parts and a sub-soiler mounted on an arm which depended on the weight of a seated plough operator to keep it in the ground. The operator also had to work to keep the plough on a vertical axis as well as endure the jolts of the sub-soiler blade hitting obstacles!
