Kingslaw Bark Peeler on Norway and Sitka Spruce
Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. Report No 54 is an extension of an earlier trial to look into how effective this peeler handles Norway and Sitka spruce pit props in various sizes and months of drying. Again the machine performed well in the majority of cases but there was a bit of concern on the roughness of the peeled prop surface particularly in the smaller sizes and in roughly sned material.
A table is included which indicated the outputs for various types of products.
