The Kingslaw Bark Peeling Machine
Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. Report No 47 describes a peeling machine made by Mebro of Buchhaven, Fife which appears to be a fairly complex piece of machinery but easily towed from site to site. Although tested in the most difficult period of the year for removing bark, December, the Kingslaw results were quite impressive.
