Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. Jim, from Crook of Devon, has kindly made the reports available for scanning and entry onto this website. Please open the PDF to see this full report.

Report No 24 describes a trial with rubber tracks that took place in Inverliever Forest. (Someone has helpfully hand written in Cuthbertson Avon Conelly as the names for CAC.) The trial of the track system was only partially successful due to the small diameter of the internal wheels. A long period of time was to elapse before new materials were developed which led to the present day prolific use of ‘rubber’ tracked vehicles.
