Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. Jim, from Crook of Devon, has kindly made the reports available for scanning and entry onto this website. Please open the PDF to see this full report.

Report No 15 contains some beautiful photographs of the trailers used, one fitted with Fordson tractor wheels and also of the Fordson Tractor with tracked extensions and large front wheels working in a muddy location. The advantages of the large wheels are evaluated in tables.

This particular file has a number of hand written comments from Director to Brig Batten, Mr Batters and Mr Ryle and a suggestion that the report should be brought to the attention of FAO. The named people will have been based in FC England.
