Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. Report No 8 describes the results of mechanical peeling carried out by a new machine produced by W &L Cole of London, the costs involved and comparisons with hand peeling.

This particular report had been received by the Conservator East Scotland (Frank Oliver) and then circulated to the Conservancy Engineer (R Bleukinsop) and two District Officers Mr Woolridge and Hamish Maxwell.
