Joint Forestry Societies’ Tour of North Scot
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many of those are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.
A large tour group consisting of members of the Royal Scottish, English, Welsh and Northern Ireland Forestry Societies tour the forests in north Sutherland. No doubt the ongoing discussions and controversies of planting on the peat lands of North Scotland prompted this part of the tour enabling the members to get first hand experience of the subject.
Here the group have crossed the deer pass in Dalchork Forest and now having a discussion in the newly planted Corries Forest. In this photograph Andrew Little is on the mike and in the PDF Tony Spencer holds the mike. This is their last stop in north Sutherland before they turn to forests south of Inverness.
