The Falstone skidder machine shown is FC78429 and not Donzie MacLean’s machine. The sequence of photographs shows Bill Greig getting the ends of the Scots pine thinnings all lined up squarely and then proceeding to cross cut them into pulp lengths.
He is using a pickeroon to pull and chivvy the poles into position once the skidder has pushed them reasonably level with its blade and then using a measuring pole cuts the whole pile straight across with his chainsaw (Husqvarna?). He would then most likely hand stack the pulp wood pieces into the piles behind.

These saws were available in two different models, the SE and SG. The SG were fitted with heated handles and were very commonly used by F.C chainsaw operators at that time.
