Fire near Rogie Falls, Torrachilty
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.
Forestry Commission workers gather to get ready to deal with a fire that had started near Rogie Falls. A daunting and dangerous task to tackle it from this side and most likely would have to be tackled from the sides or rear but access looks difficult.
The PDF shows the after effects of the fire which appears to have burnt mainly the heather and birch on the hill tops and the bypassed much of the planted forest.

Donald MacRae's van on the left, with the pate of Norman Nicolson shining through the rear doors on the right. Billy Tulloch, with the brown jacket and back to the camera in the middle of the vans. Van on the right would likely be Donald Greig's. Fire would have been in the spring afore I went to Torrachilty.
