Forestry Commission Hymac excavator

This machine is possibly in Skye and had been used to dig some fire dams in Waternish Forest. Driver’s face is hidden in the shadows but can anyone suggest who is the operator and confirm the location?

Thanks Bob for the names. Good to hear from you. I had missed the fact that this was a wide track plate Hymac and remember them working on the Crask road. I remember the name Leslie Cran but had completely forgotten that John MacSween operated the second machine. Looking closely at the image the outline of driver can partially be seen and does look a bit like John but not certain.

The location is by the A87 north of Sligachan looking towards the Black Cuillin.

the machines were low ground pressure with extended tracks.
