The above photograph is courtesy of Douglas Sharp who goes on to write:

'I have been sorting through some of my late mother's things and I have found the attached photograph. I do not know when it was taken but I believe it shows my late uncle James Robertson Mackay-Smith who was a pupil at the school in the 1930's. James is on the front row second from the left. James joined the Cameron Highlanders and was killed in Sicily in August 1943. I know that he was also a pupil at the Royal High School in Edinburgh. I think that he left school at the age of 18 in 1939 and went to Sandhurst but my mother rarely spoke about her brother and I know little about his life. I also have a letter from James which was written in 1942 in which he speaks of a visit whilst on leave to Benmore'.

It is possible that this football team could be formed from students from 1939 - 1941 or 1940 - 1942 year groups. Can anyone identify the other players with the help of the large image?
