List of Tree and Shrubs in Benmore Gardens 1951

Mike Phillips, a former research head forester at Newton, published several papers during his career and in retirement. In the attached PDF he provides a 50 page list of all the tree and shrub species which he compiled while he was a student at Benmore Forester Training School, Argyll. Mike provides the botanical name as at that time, the common name (if one exists) and country of origin.
The gardens, which held and still hold a very extensive collection of species, are managed by Edinburgh Botanic Gardens and very much visited.
