Ian and Elsie Bremner at Bin Forest Holding No3
Images courtesy of Ian Bremner, Keith.
Ian Bremner and his mother Elsie are in the Chicken Run attached to No 3 Forest Worker Holding, Bin Forest. The ground was leased separately form the main holding.
The PDF (click on PDF below the image) shows a typical tenancy agreement dated Aug 1953 this time for the additional piece of ground to that of FWH No 3 for use by Tom Bremner as a chicken run. Of interest are the names of the people who also received copies of the document viz. Mr D J Urquhart (Danny Urquhart who was Head Forester at the Bin), Mr R J G Horne (who was District officer but not sure of his office location at this time?) and thirdly Mr A L Bennett who has not been identified? By this date the office in Aberdeen is located at 6 Queen’s Gate and is titled Conservancy Office.
The map in the second page of the PDF shows the location and extent of the land in the 1953 agreement. The area within the red bounded zone (Field No 260) appears to show an area of 8.858 acres but in reality is almost certainly 0.858 acres. The map was hand drawn from the original OSS 25 inch to the mile map for Aberdeenshire No XV11 Section 13 and the area may have been transcribed wrongly!
