Retirement of Janet Clark as Clerical Officer from Forestry Commission Balnacoul Office, Mosstodloch.

Janet worked much of her Forestry Commission life from around 1950 as a clerical officer in the old style district office at Fochabers which is now the site for the Health Centre. With the formation of the new style Forest Districts circa 1983 the office for that area moved to Balnacoul in the village of Mosstodloch.

Helen Grant remembers her mother, Gladys Cheyne who did the clerical work for the Bin Forest, saying that Janet worked for a time at the Bin office. It is possible in these days of one ‘clerkess’ per office that the only way to cover for holidays and any time off work would be to bring in temporary cover from another forest or district.
