Will comments:
‘This was taken on a Grampian Fire Brigade demonstration in September 1989. I am fairly sure it was in the Dallas area (not The Crown Estate) and was filmed by Grampian TV. This was one of the first outings of their Scottrack ATV and during the demonstration of its amphibious capabilities it got snagged on something in a small lochan and required the helicopter to pull it free!’

It looks as if flares were used to simulate fire and smoke in this event.

Does anyone else remember this or similar exercises?

PLM helicopter. Both PLM and Dollar used to undertake regular training exercises with F. C. personnel and local fire brigades. Nothing like that happened nowadays! Comment left on 25 September 2023 at 17:05 by Jock Simpson
