Newton Nursery 1936
Images courtesy of Alan Duncan, Nursery Manager, Newton Nursery from a small collection of around 20 6x4 inch glass negatives that are stored at the nursery office and date from 1936. The land for the nursery was purchased by the forestry Commission in 1931 and the nursery formed very shortly after.
A view from the west side of the nursery over transplant beds and possibly some seed beds looking in general northwards towards the Moray Firth coast. There are what appears to be boards at the head of each seed bed?
At the edge of the beds, one section below the shed, there is a boundary rabbit proof fence beyond which ploughing is taking place in the field in front of semi-detached cottages (see later photograph No892).
