Forest fire watch tower in Culbin Forest, one of two, this one is thought to be at Cloddymoss. The towers were used up until 1983 at least but can anyone say when they were dismantled and who used to man them?

I was at the dismantling of the two towers starting at the top removing every bolt by hand until we reached the bottom. Comment left on 01 February 2011 at 22:42 by Ronnie Legge
The tower must have been up until the early 1990s - I can remember seeing it on trips to Brodie around this time. Comment left on 27 July 2011 at 17:39 by Graham Milne
So why did they stop using fire watchtowers? There have been a few quite large blazes in Culbin in recent years. Comment left on 21 June 2026 at 22:30 by Andrew McPherson
