This was part of an archived file recovered from old shed store at Newton by Malcolm Hobson and Ruaridh Maxwell of Forestry and Land Scotland.

This is a letter to Jack Frater, Chief Forester at Laigh of Moray Forest (LOM) from the District Office in Fochabers signed by Graham Tuley as probably Assistant District Officer. Doug Yeats (Forester) at LOM requested an area breakdown by former forest areas that comprised the newly merged Laigh of Moray Forest.

The former forest areas of Monaughty, Newton and Roseisle and Culbin are listed with areas in acres and hectares. Monaughty is further broken down by areas named as Quarry Wood, Newtyle, Dallas and Level (Rounding up of differences in total areas?).
David Foot (District Officer) had estimated areas of crops under 20 years and under 10 years and figures provided.
