The proposal to drain the Buckie Loch in Culbin Forest
This was part of an archived file recovered from old shed store at Newton by Malcolm Hobson and Ruaridh Maxwell of Forestry and Land Scotland.
A descriptive hand written memo to Frank Oliver, Conservator, by District Officer James A M Kennedy laying out the potential proposal to drain part of the Buckie Loch and recover up to twenty five acres for planting with trees. This is followed up with a letter by Frank Oliver to the Conservancy Engineer to investigate the possibility of mechanised draining of the location. The engineer was R I C Blenkinsop and Mr T H Woolridge mention was Divisional Officer with responsibility for the state forests in the Conservancy.
