Glentress Forestry School gala day parade 1950

Date Added: 06 August 2010 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1950 Picture No: 628

Photograph is part of Bill Stoddart’s collection of images taken when he was a lecturer at several Forester Training Schools. The photographs were handed in by his daughter Lilian Allan at the Forestry Memories drop in day at Huntly on 11 June 2010.
This photograph shows the forestry students efforts to produce a parade float for the local gala day at Peebles. The theme appears to be something to do with comparison of rail transport from Symington to Peebles in 1865 and going by one of the photographs showing a bike with a Symington - Peebles 1950 perhaps the demise of a rail link. Beeching was yet to make his cuts!!

There is no information on names and the year is guessed at as being around 1950. Any further information would be very welcome
