Glentress Forestry School version of 'The Broons'
Photograph is part of Bill Stoddart’s collection of images taken when he was a lecturer at several Forester Training Schools. The photographs were handed in by his daughter Lilian Allan at the Forestry Memories drop in day at Huntly on 11 June 2010.
This photograph shows the forestry students efforts to produce a ‘Broons’ parade float for the local gala day at Peebles.
There is no information on names and the year is guessed at as being around 1950. Any further information would be very welcome.

This is in the square at Glentress making into the main forest road. The large building is the dining hall where the men students were fed also, I believe, various dances held here and also inside was a large grand piano. To the rear of man standing was a building without roof, with large sliding doors in which were kept various food waste buckets also piles of sand perhaps a maintenance yard. Further back in photo is a Nissan hut and to rear of that is old dormitories.
