Forwarders in operation in Huntly area circa 1980
The image is courtesy of John Thomson, formerly Forest District Manager of Aberdeenshire and Moray Forest District. This black and white image was taken by a photographer from Westland of Inverurie, Photographic Artists, but there is no detail on the location or operations.
The two machines are obviously stacking pulpwood quite close to a road or field edge carrying a telephone line. The forwarder on the right may be a Bruunett with a Cranab 4115 crane. Does anyone recognise this model which has a two bay load configuration?
The other machine on the left is a tractor trailer combination with an OSA crane possibly 340? This may be a Forestry Commission assembled machine from Chapelhall.
The location is not known but assumed to be in the general Huntly area about 1980.
Any details on machines, drivers and location would be very welcome.
