David Brierton - Tilhill from 1962 to 1987
This appreciation of David Brierton has been collated by Tom McLellan, forester from Taynuilt, Argyll, with additional input provided by Vaughan Hammond.
David or DB as he was better known, led Tilhill for 25 years from 1962 to 1987, with 11 of these years as Managing Director. This appreciation sets out DB’s contribution to the forest industry in Britain and his leadership of Tilhill over these 25 years, with staff having a very strong business loyalty helped by a close knit company structure.
These shared values and the culture within Tilhill were very much driven by DB.
The 8th March 2026 will be the 25th anniversary of DB’s passing.
