Faskally Forester Training School 1955 - 57 Class

Date Added: 19 July 2010 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1956 Picture No: 617

Photograph is part of Bill Stoddart’s collection of images taken when he was a lecturer at several Forester Training Schools. The photographs were handed in by his daughter Lilian Allan at the Forestry Memories drop in day at Huntly on 11 June 2010. There is limited information with the images and any help to identify people in them, the year and sometimes location would be very welcome indeed.

Duncan Menzies, Banchory, has indicated that this is Class of 1955-57 and this has been confirmed by Donald Beaton, Spinningdale, who has named the following people.
‘This photograph is our junior year taken at the same time. I forget most of the names but

No 4 Is Norman McLeod who became an instructor at the Forestry School in Inverness.
No 6 Is the late Tavish McMillan from Drumnadrochit and a noted fiddler.

No 9 Is the late Donald McRae from Raasay who was killed in a road accident.’
No13 Edmund Harris Instructor
No 14 Mr Cruickshanks Head
No 15 Bill Stoddart Instructor
No 16 Ian Garrioch Instructor

Norman, it's lovely to see some of the photos you've conributed to this site, including the one of Dad (Walter Paterson) above at Faskily. I have a few more photos & memorabilia of Dad's time with the forestry that I'd be happy to scan & send to you for use on the site. (Dad would have so loved a wee browse in here!)
Best wishes
Sheila
