Red Deer on Mar lodge near Derry Lodge
The images are from photographic slides courtesy of Abbie Gordon, Banchory who spotted this spectacular bachelor herd of red deer stags at rest in November 1992. There are probably over 100 stags in this one photo shot that are now recovering and building up body condition after the rigors of the deer rut. They will now face the testing conditions of a Cairngorms winter.
The management of deer on this estate is substantially different now in 2025 and herd numbers are currently much less and more in balance with multiple conservation, ecological and employment policies
