Chainsaw snedding – possibly in Culbin Forest

The slides were originally held by the late Alan Green of Forest Research (Newton) but handed over to Lesley Hutcheson by his widow who passed them onto Forestry and Land Scotland and thereafter found their way to Forestry Memories.

The photograph was taken during a Moray Forest District office staff outing into the forest environment for administrative staff to see forest operations and work at first hand.

The chainsaw operator may be working on a thinning operation in a Scots pine stand in Culbin. His name is not known but any suggestions of his name and other chainsaw operators working in Culbin Forest in 1984 would be very welcome.
