Benmore Forestry Students relaxing on riverside in 1949

Date Added: 03 March 2025 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1949 Picture No: 6094

Images are courtesy of Colin Lawson son of Wilfred Lawson who was a forester who trained at Benmore Forester Training School 1948-1950 following a year plus at Glenbranter Forest as a trainee worker based in the camp.

The location is not identified but could be up Glen Masson or up towards Lock Eck – any suggestions and identification of the site would be welcome. Some of the students have been named and could be a mix of first and second year students.

A view of the group of the students enjoying the sun and hopefully midge free! Names have been listed but again it is a little uncertain as to who is who and hand written note is problematic to read. It is assumed the names are in clockwise order from the person on the left:

Doc Cordory?
S Dhu (Sandy Dhu?) Alexander Nicolson?
Hinule?
D Wilkinson (seated third from right)
Wilfred Lawson (seated second from right)
McLean McLeod (seated first right)

Any names for standing person and corrections to the others would be very welcome.
