Benmore Forestry Students relaxing on riverside in 1949

Date Added: 03 March 2025 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1949 Picture No: 6091

Images are courtesy of Colin Lawson son of Wilfred Lawson who was a forester who trained at Benmore Forester Training School 1948-1950 following a year plus at Glenbranter Forest as a trainee worker based in the camp.

The location is not identified but could be up Glen Masson or up towards Lock Eck – any suggestions and identification of the site would be welcome. Some of the students have been named and could be a mix of first and second year students.
The three students demonstrating a Scottish highland theme are from the left:

Wilfred Lawson
D Henry
D Robertson

More details are not known but is there a chance D Robertson is Davy Robertson – the one who was in Skye? In the back ground may be Sandy Nicol and Sandy Nicolson (Sandy Dhu)
